Mike Bowen of Makepeace Cabinetmakers has recently made a major investment by purchasing four new Martin machines from M W M of Leicester.
Makepeace Cabinets, established in 1975, describe themselves as the ‘best kept secret in Wales’, but this will not continue much longer, as they are now pushing ahead with major plans for growth, whilst still maintaining their reputation of supplying beautifully crafted furniture for the home.

This is part of their on-going development programme whereby they are streamlining and re-organising their business to create an improved work environment , as well as an attractive venue for clients to visit.
With Mike Bowen keen eye for detail, he was able to discern that Martin were offering machinery of a very superior nature with many options which would enhance his production, and enable him to produce work with a greater degree of accuracy and speed.
Mike was first introduced to the Martin range of machines at the W10 exhibition, and in his own words, ‘when it came to quality and top end machines, there is nothing to compare to Martin’ He was convinced that by purchasing new plant from Martin, it would give him greater scope and complete flexibility with his production.
Before a decision was made, Gavin Cooper of MWM arranged a trip to Germany in order that Mike and his workshop manager Gordon, could see the Martin factory, and observe how the machines were manufactured. It was also necessary to discuss with Georg Jansen of Otto Martin, the various optional extras which could be utilised to make these machines as versatile as possible.
The staff at Otto Martin, gave full demonstrations of their machinery range, and this culminated in Makepeace placing an order for four of Martin’s top range of machines.

The Martin T75 Sliding table saw which tilts +/- to 46 degrees is the first machine of this type in Wales. The other machines supplied are the T27 Flex Spindle Moulder, T45 Contour Planing machine, and T54 Surface planer.

The machines were delivered and installed in the Makepeace workshops in Llandysul, Carmarthen in the late summer. Full training was given by MWM upon installation, and the work force were delighted to find that the new machines were operator friendly, thanks to the intuitive touch-screen facilities.
Now these machines are fully operational Mike Bowen feels he has made a successful investment, for the future of his company.
For further information please contact:
MWM Limited – T: 0116 2893469.
Standard Woodworking Choose Martin

“MARTIN MACHINERY THE STANDARD CHOICE”

Standard Woodworking of Leicester have been producing high quality joinery and fine furniture for over 25 years, and when Company Director Nick Stanhope looked to replace his Planer thicknesser he contacted his local Martin agents, Markfield Woodworking Machinery Ltd (MWM).
Nick commented “ Quality is of the utmost importance to my clients and myself, and so when it came to investing in new machinery , I looked no further than the German manufacture Otto Martin . I already have a Martin spindle moulder in my workshop, and it has proved to be a great investment. So the choice was simple .
Gavin Cooper of MWM added “We have been working with Standard Woodworking for many years now, so we understand how important quality is them. The machines which we installed were the Martin T45 thickness planer, and the Martin T54 surface planer.
However quality was not the only requirement. It was essential that the machine was operator friendly, and the setup time was reduced, and these were very important factors. With the programmable control on the thickness height, and motorised surface table , this ensured a quick set up time with constant results.
The other consideration was the footprint of the machines since they had to fit into the same space in which the 24” planer thicknesser had stood . This was possible due to the unique feature of the two machines being able to stand back to back, thus saving space.

After the machines had been running for a week Nick commented on how pleased he was with his Martin investment. “ I am so pleased with my new machine. I cannot believe how quietly they run , and the finish the T45 gives is superb . I think I will be spending less time sanding now. I would recommend a Martin machine to anyone looking for absolute quality .

For further information contact
MWM
